Stefek, 6, throws down the gauntlet for Providence to take it up. The boy believes that a chain of small events he initiates will let him get closer to his father, who has dumped his mother for another woman. Stefek's sister Elka, 18, teaches him how to bribe fate with small offerings. At a decisive moment, however, the children have nothing precious to sacrifice. In his game with fate, Stefek decides to raise the stakes high to a dangerous level...

Andrzej Jakimowski

Andrzej Jakimowski, born 1963 in Warsaw, director, screenwriter. His debut feature Squint Your Eyes won numerous awards, among others the Main SKYY Prize at San Francisco IFF 2004, Main Prize WHITE ROSE at IFF Sochi 2004, Special Mention FIPRESCI at Mannheim-Heidelberg 2002. Tricks is his second feature.
